Compton dojo is part of the EGKA, and by extension the IOGKF. Membership is a requirement but you will have several weeks grace for you to decide if you are happy with the dojo.
Membership ensures that you become part of an organisation dedicated to preserving traditional karate-do. All instructors are insured, vetted and train frequently with our senior senseis to perpetuate the Goju Ryu way, founded in Okinawa and maintained for generations.
Benefits include the chance to train under the masters of our style of karate. EGKA is largest member of IOGKF and we are fortunate to have a wealth of world class instructors in our country, many of whom train regularly under Morio Higaonna Shihan. EGKA host many gasshukus (training events) throughout the year, open to all ages and grades.
There are over 50 IOGKF member countries worldwide, all of which host their own gasshukus which are open to other countries. The combined passion for karate and atmosphere of cameraderie contributes to an unparalleled sense of family extending across the globe.
Finally membership provides third party and personal injury cover. In a recognised EGKA dojo, you will practice light-contact karate, always with respect and care for our colleagues. However, as with any sport, injuries do occur.
